CYLINDER WAKE IMAGE
Low Reynolds Number Cylinder Wake Flow
This visualisation shows the "Mode A" flow structures in the
wake of a circular cylinder. The Reynolds number is 210. The
structures (blue/yellow) represent
isosurfaces of streamwise vorticity (both
positive and negative). An isosurface of pressure (red) is shown
to highlight the Strouhal vortices in the wake. The
calculation was performed with a spectral-element/spectral
code. The results are in good agreement with the experiments
performed by Charles Williamson at Cornell.
